Inspiration for Halloween costumes can be taken from anywhere. You can pretty much dress up as anything whether it be your favorite type of candy or a cartoon character. Halloween costumes allow you to be creative in a variety of ways such as designing the costume itself or acting out your innterpretation of whoever or whatever you are dressed as. Some costomes require creativity in both areas.
One classic area that provides a lot of Halloween costume inspiration is the world of television. TV characters from all types of genres are turned into costumes all the time. There’s a special category, however, that takes a bit more dedication and commitment when it comes to becoming a tv character, and that is the characters that not only have distinctive costumes but also distinctive personalities. Here’s the 411 on who some of these characters are, and how you can complete the look for your Halloween costume.
Dot From Madtv
Dot, played by Stephanie Weir, is a character from the sketch comedy show Madtv. To become Dot all you need is long blonde hair, tons of frills and a wild imagination. Oh and did I mention Dot’s Signiture, her handy dandy gloooves.

Moira Rose
To celebrate Schitt’s Creek’s Emmy’s Sweeps, dress up as the one and only Moira Rose played by Catherine O’Hara. Moira has a unique style that consists of black, white and glittering couture and you cannot forget one of Moira’s precious bebes, her wigs.
If you plan on tackling the Moira Rose costume, I highly advise that you practice that interesting Canadian accent that she only seems to have. Oh. and don’t forget your dictionary.

Helena
Helena, played by Tatiana Maslany, from Orphan Black has a very random, situational type of sestra style. Although her outfits are not as defined as her fellow sestras, her personality is completely unique to her. Whether she’s in a puffer jacket or a dress and stockings, you wouldn’t have to guess whether or not it’s Helena. The Ukrainian accent and red under-eyes will surely give you away if you choose to tackle this costume. You just have to make sure you have a fierce sense of loyalty and amazing survival skills to match.

Whitley Gilbert
Whitley Gilbert is the perfect example of a character that you would know just by looking at the outfit and hearing the voice. Jasmine Guy portrayed Ms. Whitley on A Different World, and she has to be one of my favorite TV characters ever. To become Whitley, you’ll need to move like a bougie southern belle with a sleek and chic wardrobe. You’ll have to perfect your pronunciation of “Dwayne” in Whitley’s signature southern accent too.
